I found this symbol in a book I'm reading called Reiki Shamanism. I'm not grooving to the book, but I'll save that for a book review when I finish. I DO adore this symbol. For some reason it is really speaking to me now, as I learn to spend more time in stillness...to interrupt the constant flow of thoughts and self depreciation.
I'm not much into the idea that symbols in and of themselves have power. I believe it is our intentions that do that. But that aside, this symbol is such a good reminder.
See, in this symbol you see the infinity symbol and a dark, thick line cutting through the center of it. That line interrupts the endless flow as a reminder to me to slow down, to take that space, right there in the middle of the endless cycle of swirling, to be...in that space...still.
I'm not one for tattoos (or at least not yet), but I am going to put this symbol on the inside of my wrist in henna as a reminder. To spend more time in the gap. To stop. To listen. To be. The eternal swirling continues, but there can be little breaks within it. A good reminder when I do healing work too. Get out of my head, spend the healing time in the gap. The place of unknowing. The place of not thinking it through. The place of allowing. The place where I realize it it not me, but the collective that works to heal.
I give opinions on all sort of random stuff EXCEPT religion and politics...two of the most divisive topics on the planet. I give advice and answer questions (like an advice column), and I love the topics of all things spiritual and metaphysical, parenting and general life issues. I'll review products, movies, books, you name it. Enter your email address in the blank below and click submit to subscribe to my new posts via email.
